USDA TARGETS HIGH BEEF PRICES — BACKS SMALL RANCHERS & LOCAL PROCESSORS

Beef prices hit an all-time high this August, and folks across the country are feeling it. The root of the issue? A shortage of U.S. cattle and a system bottlenecked by a handful of massive processors.

The Trump administration just announced a new plan to address both. USDA Secretary Brooke Rollins says they’ll open up more land for ranching and support smaller, regional beef processing plants. That’s a big shift from relying on industry giants like Tyson and JBS—and it’s a win for local producers.

The goal is simple: bring more beef production back home, cut out the red tape, and give American ranchers more room to operate. There was even talk of importing more beef from Argentina, but U.S. cattlemen pushed back—and rightly so.
